Week 15 - SAP


This final project is a practical case study centered on SAP HANA, an in-memory, column-oriented, relational database management system. It’s designed to apply the database concepts we’ve explored this semester to a real-world business scenario, enhancing your hands-on skills in data management.

Project Description

You will be granted access to SAP HANA via a web tool, using credentials provided via email. The project involves following a detailed case study, available in the assignment on GeorgiaView, which will guide you through the creation of a data model using real business data.


  • Apply data modeling techniques using SAP HANA.
  • Utilize SAP tools for data integration and analysis.
  • Develop solutions to real-world data management problems.


  1. Login Details: Use your assigned credentials to access the SAP HANA system.
  2. Case Study Guidance: Follow the detailed instructions in the case study PDF to complete your data modeling project.
  3. Project Tasks: Create data models, integrate data using the Smart Data Integration Tool, and use SAP Lumira for data visualization.

Video Demonstration Submission

  • Content: Your video should include a walkthrough of your data model creation, the rationale behind your design decisions, a demonstration of any queries or data manipulations, and a showcase of your final calculated views (3 of them). Do NOT move past the calculated views into the Lumira.
  • Presentation: The video should not only demonstrate technical proficiency but also your ability to communicate complex information effectively.
  • Format: Submit a video of 1-3 minutes in length. Ensure it is clear and concise, with good audio quality and visual clarity.
  • Upload Instructions: Upload your video to the assignment on GeorgiaView before the May 1, 2024 at 11:30 pm.

Evaluation Criteria

Your project will be assessed based on the following components:

  • Technical Execution (70%): Accuracy and complexity of your data models, effectiveness of data integration and queries, and proper use of SAP Hana Graph Flow for data visualization.

  • Video Presentation (30%): Clarity of communication, logical organization of content, demonstration of key functionalities, and overall presentation quality.

  • Points will be awarded for:

    • Thoroughness in following the case study instructions.
    • Creativity and analytical rigor in designing data models.
    • Efficiency and correctness in executing queries and manipulations.
    • Professionalism and persuasiveness of the video presentation.


All components, including the video, must be submitted via GeorgiaView by May 1, 2024 at 11:30 pm. Make sure to review and refine your submissions to meet all project requirements.
