Project 2 - Content Development
In this task, your objective is to create informative content for your website. For instance, if you opted for a pet supply business, your focus would be to produce engaging content around the subject matter. This information is not intended for direct sales but rather to offer useful insights that can attract potential customers to visit your website. Alternatively, if you selected a fitness supplement company, you could develop a content piece such as “The Top 10 Exercises to Achieve Your Ideal Summer Physique”.
Background
The project at hand involves creating content for a website that aims to attract potential customers through informative articles. The website may belong to a business or organization that operates in a specific industry, such as pet supplies or fitness supplements. The primary objective of this project is to provide valuable insights and information to the visitors that can help them make informed decisions related to the industry.
By producing high-quality content, the website can establish itself as a reliable source of information for the target audience, which, in turn, can increase its credibility and attract more visitors. Additionally, the content can also help the website rank higher in search engine results, increasing its visibility and driving organic traffic.
To achieve this objective, the project may involve extensive research on the chosen topic and developing an in-depth understanding of the industry. The content should be engaging, informative, and relevant to the target audience, making it more likely for them to share it with others and return to the website for more. Ultimately, the success of this project will depend on the quality of the content produced, and the ability to effectively reach and engage with the target audience.
WordPress Project Requirements
Part 1 – Ideas
Please refer to the rubric located in the GeorgiaView assignment to understand the project requirements. The first criterion is worth 15 points and requires you to generate content ideas that you could potentially write about. You must generate 25 content ideas, including 10 MVP and 15 filler ideas, and save them in a PDF document. The concepts of MVP and fillers are elaborated in the module. These are just a list of ideas.
Part 2 – Content Creation
Then you are expected to create three MVP articles and six fillers. The fillers should take approximately 15-20 minutes each, while the MVP will require considerably more time. It is crucial that you create original content and avoid plagiarizing from others. You are encouraged to use ChatGPT to help create your content.
Part 3 – Navigation and Tag Cloud
In the final step, you must update the navigation menu by incorporating your newly created content in a well-organized and logical manner. Replace the placeholder text with the relevant items, ensuring that the “Top Menu” reflects these changes. You may add categories such as “Product Reviews” or “Helpful Tips” to your navigation menu, while keeping the “About Us” link in the top menu.
Moreover, it is crucial to add appropriate tags to your content to populate the “tag cloud” from Project 1. You can accomplish this by modifying the tags in your posts.
Step 1 – Idea Generation Content Calendar
For this step you should have decided what your store is about. These ideas should be put into some soft of content calendar. A content calendar is a planning tool that provides a roadmap for creating and publishing content over a specified period, such as a week, month, or year. It helps content creators and marketers to organize their content creation process by outlining the topics, themes, formats, and distribution channels for each piece of content. The calendar can also include important dates, events, and holidays relevant to the target audience, enabling the creation of timely and relevant content. Additionally, a content calendar helps to maintain consistency in content creation, which can be critical for building brand awareness and engagement.
Step 2 – Create Posts
Your task is to compose three (3) MVP articles and six (6) filler posts using Microsoft Word. To enhance the quality of the posts, be sure to include high-quality images that are relevant to the content. This is an opportunity to showcase your creativity, so try to create engaging and informative posts. It is essential to differentiate between MVP and filler posts clearly.
Next, you should organize your content by categorizing it into two or three groups. Additionally, brainstorm some ideas for tags or keywords that accurately describe your content.
Step 3 – Build Out WordPress
To complete the task, you need to transfer your content to your WordPress site. This involves updating the Title, Permalink, Categories, and Tags. You may need to modify the Categories and Tags to ensure they are accurate and relevant. Additionally, you should replace the placeholder posts with your newly created content. You can either create a new post and remove the old ones, or edit the existing ones. It is crucial to update the permalink correctly to ensure the post is accessible to the audience.
Step 4 – Tag Cloud and Top Navigation
Make sure your tag cloud on your homepage is populated correctly. Edit your top left navigation menu, using the organization structure you came up with to organize your nine (9) content pieces.
Go to Appearance -> Menus. Add your posts to the menu you want and click update.
